Upright
Core Meaning
This card reflects mourning for what has already passed, with a tendency to avoid facing the loss directly. It can show a time of grief, regret, or farewell, where the main task is to acknowledge what has changed rather than turn away from it.
Relationships
In relationships, this points to emotional conflict, disappointment, and sadness over the past. There may be distance or disconnection, especially if one or both people are still carrying what was lost instead of addressing the relationship as it is now.
Work & Study
In work or study, this suggests a crisis or difficult period that can make problems feel risky and overwhelming. The pattern is to withdraw or dodge the issue, but a useful check is whether avoidance is keeping the situation more unstable.
Reversed
Core Meaning
Reversed, the card can show being stuck in the past and unable to let go, or beginning to look outward for a new opening. The tension is between lingering attachment and the need to re-enter life with a clearer view of what remains available.
Relationships
In relationships, this can mean staying absorbed in old hurt and not really moving on, even when that pain is shaping current bonds. It may also suggest a search for connection after isolation. A helpful check is whether you are reaching for people from clarity or from emptiness.
Work & Study
In work or study, this points to being weighed down by earlier failure and struggling to recover momentum, or to actively seeking a way through the blockage. The emphasis is on whether the past is still defining your choices, and what practical step could reopen possibilities.
